Manchester City will be looking to defend their UEFA Champions League title after beating Inter Milan in last year’s final.

But Pep Guardiola’s side could face competition from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, who have signed Harry Kane in a club-record deal, and Premier League rivals Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle.

WHEN ARE THE UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUALIFYING TIES?

Qualifying has been under way since late June and finishes at the end of August.

The remaining qualifying dates are:

  • Third qualifying round second legs: August 15
  • Play-offs: August 22/23 and August 29/30

 

HAS THE UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FORMAT BEEN CHANGED THIS YEAR?

The UEFA Champions League format remains this same this season with 32 teams in the group stage.

From the 2024/25 season the number of teams competing in the group stage will increase from 32 to 36.

WHEN DOES THE GROUP STAGE START?

The UEFA Champions League group stage kicks off in September.

It will commence shortly after the first international break of the season which runs from September 4-12.

The group-stage dates are:

  • Matchday 1: September 19/20 2023
  • Matchday 2: October 3/4 2023
  • Matchday 3: October 24/25 2023
  • Matchday 4: November 7/8 2023
  • Matchday 5: November 28/29 2023
  • Matchday 6: December 12/13 2023

WHEN ARE THE UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE KNOCKOUT STAGES?

The 2023/24 UEFA Champions League knockout matches begin in February 2024.

The final will be played at Wembley on June 1, 2024.

The schedule for the knockout stages is:

  • Round of 16: February 13/14/20/21 and March 5/6/12/13 2024
  • Quarter-finals: April 9/10 and 16/17 2024
  • Semi-finals: April 30/May 1 and May 7/8 2024
  • Final: June 1 2024

WHEN IS THE DRAW FOR THE GROUP STAGE?

The draw for the group stage of the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League will be made on August 31.

The last-16 draw will be held on December 18 and the draw for the quarter-finals and semi-finals will be on March 15, 2024.

WHAT TEAMS HAVE QUALIFIED FOR THE GROUP STAGES?

There are still six group-stage places up for grabs through qualifying.

The winners of the six two-legged play-off ties reach the UEFA Champions League group stage to join the 26 teams who get direct entry.

The confirmed teams so far are:

  • England: Manchester City, Arsenal, Manchester United, Newcastle
  • Spain: Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Real Sociedad, Sevilla
  • Germany: Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Union Berlin
  • Italy: Napoli, Lazio, Inter Milan, AC Milan
  • France: Paris Saint-Germain, Lens
  • Scotland: Celtic
  • Portugal: Benfica, Porto
  • Netherlands: Feyenoord
  • Serbia: Red Star Belgrade
  • Austria: RB Salzburg
  • Ukraine: Shakhtar Donetsk

HOW TO WATCH THE UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE ON TNT SPORTS

TNT Sports will broadcast every UEFA Champions League match from the group stage to the final live over the course of the 2023-24 season.

In addition, TNT Sports will broadcast a select number of matches from the qualifying phase, and then all 12 matches from the play-off round of qualification.
